Making decisions out of impulse or pure emotion is a dangerous thing. Three years ago, on a December 15, a close friend of mine decided to play daredevil with a motorcycle. He sped through a busy intersection, back and forth, with a couple of friends. He successfully crossed twice. Unharmed. I imagine the rush and the excitement. I wasn’t there, but I can picture him boasting about it. His laugh was a one of kind laugh. I can still hear it. He was on vacation, so I’m sure he was having the time of his life. His buddies rooted him to try it again.
The third time was his last time.
He died at the age of 25.
How many dumb decisions have killed you prematurely? Ahead of your time? Spiritually, emotionally, or psycholigically that is.
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 7:9
2015 is a great year to keep our emotions on check. To tell our hearts what to do, to chill on the thrill, and do what’s simple and right. It’s a clean slate. And I don’t want to sound cliche, or sound too cliche by saying “I don’t want to sound cliche.” But, we humans love new beginnings. It’s time to start a story with full of life and wise, well thought out, decisions.
