A Letter To My Friends, Partners, and Clients

As I venture off on my own and consolidate everything I do under one umbrella – my personal brand- people quickly jump the gun and think this is an ego thing. While it’s quite the contrary, it’s an authenticity thing.

Personal branding can be egotistical when it comes from a place of shameless self-promotion – but done correctly, in its truest form, I believe personal branding is about being authentic. – Huffington Post

Being myself in this type of creative business is probably the best decision I can ever make. Because it can be exhausting trying to hide behind a company, a logo, a name that doesn’t represents you 100%. Let’s face it, at the end of the day, people hire people. And the ones that connect emotionally, offer value, empathy, and commitment wins.

The point in thinking about yourself as a “brand” isn’t to create an alter-ego called our “personal brand” that presents a super-human, polished, and robotic persona of the real you. The point is to become authentic in who you are and intentional about how you tell your story.  – Life Hacker

I’m all about maximizing talents, leveraging from other strengths, and creating the best thing that can be created. Is this company culture? Sure, if you want to call it that. The reality, it’s my personality. It’s who I am. I’m not looking for self glory, shameless self promotion, arrogance, or to manufacture some sort of image. So, lets not think that. Regardless what others might think. This feels right, to me.

If you use the Internet, you have a brand. Whether you like it or not, people are Googling you and their impression of you is shaped by the content they find: your LinkedIn profile, your Facebook page, your public tweets, that random op-ed you wrote for your college paper. And yet many people are uncomfortable with the idea of cultivating a personal brand. – Fast Company

Am I exaggerating? No! This is the future of digital business – showing your face. You’re only a google search away of people finding out who you really are. So, why not do it right?

Let’s not get caught up with ALL OF this being about me. Believe it or not, this is more about YOU than what you think. And I love that. I don’t mind it at all.

So, let’s make awesome stuff already. I’m anxious.

If your approach to #personalbranding involves wearing a mask, you’ll lose a piece of you daily & you’ll fail. – Forbes
